We acknowledge that the Town of Smooth Rock Falls is located on the traditional and ancestral territory of the Cree people, specifically within the homelands of the Mushkegowuk Cree, part of Treaty 9, also known as the James Bay Treaty, signed in 1905-1906.
We recognize and respect the longstanding relationship that Indigenous Nations have with this land — a relationship that continues to this day. We honor the histories, languages, and cultures of the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples across Turtle Island, and we are grateful for the opportunity to live and work on this territory.
We are committed to truth, reconciliation, and continued learning as we move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities.
